In 2017, there is vital momentum brewing in support of social justice, environmental protection, economic opportunity, health, safety, education, and cultural diversity – and MaineShare’s Member Groups are at the forefront. We are proud that our funding
of their work helps them do more for all of us in Maine.
This year, our total funding will reach an impressive milestone: $5 million raised and distributed since 1990 when we sent the first checks to the nine founding groups. Today, over 40 member organizations count on these checks each year. However, it is important that we not only continue to provide a steady flow of funds to these organizations, but that we significantly increase our support.
As a community, we are committed to a vibrant, healthy, safe and fair future for all of Maine – and we know you are too.
It will take a collective effort to make the change that’s needed now, and into the future.

We are launching Momentum 2017 to invest in our ability to reach new people, We are launching Momentum 2017 to invest in our ability to reach new people, new workplaces, and new heights! Our goals to make the following happen by 2021 are ambitious:
● $1 Million more raised – representing a cumulative 100% increase in donations over 5 years.
● Double the number of donors to the annual fundraising campaign,
● 50 new Workplace Partners offering more employees an easy way to give to MaineShare.
By setting a steady course for growth, we will reach our full potential as a collaborative fundraising community to make a greater impact on the future of Maine.

MaineShare currently stewards 100 Workplace Partner school districts, colleges, state universities, small and large business, and community organizations. Many have worked with us for over 10 or 20 years. By reaching our Momentum 2017 goal of 50 new partnerships in 5 years, we will introduce thousands more people to MaineShare. We look forward to helping them feel part of making change happen for a better Maine.
Looking Toward the Future
Building our capacity now to ensure a steady growth of 15% per year will provide our Member Groups significantly more support. This will allow each of our groups to focus even more on their mission.
In our history, MaineShare has provided support to an expanding community of member groups without adding to our small and nimble staff of two. Momentum 2017 will provide the extra funding and staff resources we need to make a far greater impact and allow us to continue to add groups in the future.

● Mobilize our diverse community of 44 nonprofits toward a unified strategy for growth.
Connect with New Donors
Momentum 2017 will allow us to offer new avenues for giving as we step into the world of 21st century donor communications and online giving. While known originally as a way to make it easy to give at work, our payroll deduction option is appealing, but limited in reach. We know our donors have always appreciated the simple and affordable giving option of MaineShare.
Now, we seek to reach potential new donors across the spectrum of age and giving capacity. We will continue to steward the passion and generosity of donors making MaineShare’s funding for change possible by expanding ways people can give.
